Mozyhome mac causes system preferences crash verification#I just got an error from my Time Capsule: “Time Machine completed a verification of your backups. Submit a support request when you get the new unit, and we’ll get your storage all backed up and redundant! Author jjmarcus Posted on DecemCategories mac, Tech Tags backups, mac, storage 1 Comment on Why you should get a second Drobo If your Time Capsule shows a backup error ![]() So while I still prefer the expandability and simplicity of the Drobo, I would be remiss if I didn’t also draw your attention to the Pegasus Promise RAID.Īll that said, if you agree with me that the Drobo is the best option for mass storage, this 5D is the one for most Mac owners.Īnd you’d get five (5) of these 1TB Seagate hard drives. Still, the failures are real, and the Drobos seem more prone to them than other similar devices. Many criticisms are specious - “I want this to walk my dog and bake me an full-disk-encrypted pizza, and it doesn’t do that, waaaaaanh!” But some experiences sound legitimately nasty, albeit suffered by people who didn’t have backups, and who got upset that Drobo support didn’t provide a magic spell to save them from their own poor planning. You will read negative reviews on Amazon and elsewhere. Mozyhome mac causes system preferences crash portable#Excepting the awesomely portable Mini, the manufacturer has eliminated its lower-end units, made five drive bays the minimum, and put the much faster Thunderbolt and USB 3 in all the models. You have likely noticed that the Drobos appear to have gone up in price. (Indeed, this policy applies to any storage scheme!) The Drobo remains the best, most flexible option for small businesses. The advice you read - to maintain two of them, one backing up the other - is definitely smart. Like any tech, these enclosures don’t last forever. I’m real glad you are ready to get into a new Drobo. Reviews say it’s good to have a backup unit because of the proprietary RAID system. Could you advise me on which unit to buy? I will keep my existing Drobo in play, in case the new one goes down. It's probably not going to happen again.I believe my Drobo is due for replacement, just to compensate for normal wear and tear. ![]() I gather what you're concerned about is that you feel you've meddled with something important that you shouldn't have touched. It sometimes happens and it's quite difficult to know the exact cause, more a case of try this or that or keep an eye on things to see if it happens on a regular basis. The same will no doubt happen on your Mac. I had the exact same experience with FireFox yesterday but it eventually sorted itself out. What caused the System Preferences to crash is the main thing. You didn't cause any problems by changing the pref, you're allowed to and it doesn't really matter how many rows it's set to display. The number of rows is just your preference and whether or not you have 2 or 5. OK, so by the time I wrote all this out, the prob was solved and a known issue uncovered. I am new to macs but am fairly computer literate and i just cant figure out what happened. I know, long description, but I am really at a loss of what to do. And when i go back to system prefs, the entire cycle happens again. Do you wish to use these settings from now on?' with the options 'Use new settings' and 'Use original settings.' I clicked on 'Use new settings' but when i start the screen saver, it is showing up as 2 rows. ![]() This time I could open them and change them so i changed the album artwork screen saver number of rows back to 5.įinally, after closing the system prefs., i got a message that says 'System Preferences - New Settings - New settings have been created for this application. So i hit 'reopen' and when i went back to the screen saver settings it instantly closed the system prefs and i got an error message that said 'The application System Preferences closed unexpectedly after it was reopened.' So i clicked on 'Try Again' and clicked on the screen saver prefs again. After hitting 'ok', i got an error that says 'The application System Preferences quit unexpectedly.' I was playing around with the options for the album art screen saver and I set the number of rows to 2 so i could see what it looked like. I was testing out all the screen savers in my new MBP. ![]()
